Abstract(s)
demarcadas, reconhecidas e classificadas a nível mundial. As regiões do Dão, Douro, Alentejo
Portugal, is a country where a great part of the landscape is composed by vines, and viniculture is a part of its roots. This winery identity comes from a long experience in the cultivation and production of wine, which nowadays has delimited regions recognized and classified worldwide. Some great examples are Dão, Douro, Alentejo and Bairrada regions. This way, wine tourism has been conquering an important role in the portuguese economy. This study intends to praise the last region described above, creating one more stoppage on its route (A Rota da Bairrada). This region is also known by its gastronomy, particularly by “Leitão à Bairrada”, which is typically served with the sparkling wine (espumante). The wine house is no longer just a place for wine production built by necessity, but instead a contemporary space designed by an architect, connecting the wine and the tourism industries. The growth o these industries has a fundamental role to promote wine brands and the regions where they are inserted. The wine routes and the new wine houses, end up generating a group of dynamic elements to this regions. Through the proposal of a new wine house to the Caves Messias, in Quinta do Valongo, Vacariça, which will create and complement connnections between the neighboring counties, it's intended to guarantee the value of the local identity and of all of Bairradas' winery traditions. With a contemporary expression, the architechtonic object aims to be a symbol of the producing brand and accompany the development of the wine industry.
