Abstract(s)
Neste sentido, as
serão considerados a ansiedade e a depressão.
instrumentos o Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT), Utrech Work Engagement Scale
The main objective of this dissertation in Clinical and Health Psychology is to investigate the potential impact of burnout on specific indicator of mental health and engagement, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. In this sense, the main variables are burnout, engagement, and as mental health indicators, anxiety and depression will be considered. The research is descriptive and correlational and is based on quantitative data analysis of a sample of 1591 participants, aged between 18 and 74 years old (SD = 12.95), of Portuguese and Brazilian nationality, occupationally active, with 62.8% of the sample it’s composed of women and 37% of men. The instruments used in the investigation were the Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT), Utrech Work Engagement Scale (UWES) and the Brief Symptom Inventory 18 (BSI-18), and with regard to the internal consistency of the instruments presented, they all present values of Cronbach's Alpha between .70 and .90. Based on the results obtained in the present investigation, it was found that burnout has a strong positive correlation with anxiety and depression and a strong negative correlation with vigor, dedication and absorption. Through multiple linear regression analysis, it was found that burnout is a predictor of the studied variables. Regarding the difference tests, the Student t-test was used for the gender variable and the ANOVA for the marital status variable. The results show that women have higher levels of incidence of burnout, anxiety and depression, that is, there are statistically significant differences in these variables compared to male participants. In relation to engagement, men show higher levels of vigor, and in terms of dedication and absorption there are no statistically significant differences. Finally, with regard to marital status. all variables show statistically significant differences.
