O presente relatório é apresentado como a conclusão do estágio realizado no âmbito da
unidade curricular Dissertação/Estágio, desenvolvido durante 6 meses no Centro
Clínico e Experimental em Ciências da Visão (CCECV) da UBI, sob a orientação do Prof.
Doutor Francisco Miguel Pereira Brardo Ferreira.
No conjunto de todas as consultas e casos clínicos observados ao longo do período de
estágio, foram selecionados 3 inseridos nas temáticas da saúde ocular, superfície ocular
e lentes de contacto e visão binocular.
O primeiro caso refere-se a uma suspeita de estrias angióides num paciente de 21 anos,
posteriormente sujeito a vários exames complementares e com o devido
encaminhamento para outro profissional de saúde.
No segundo caso, é exposta uma adaptação de lentes de contacto esclerais num
paciente com queratocone e com um historial de várias adaptações mal-sucedidas. A
topografia corneal é essencial permitindo uma caracterização precisa da superfície
ocular de modo a conseguir a melhor solução para o paciente.
O último caso faz referência a um excesso acomodativo com um excesso de
convergência secundário, também numa paciente jovem com bastante demanda de
trabalho próximo. Foi recomendada a terapia visual como resolução para eliminar
sintomas e normalizar flexibilidades e amplitudes acomodativas e vergenciais.
This report is presented as the conclusion of the internship carried out as part of the Dissertation/Internship curricular unit, developed over six months at the Clinical and Experimental Center for Vision Sciences (CCECV) of UBI, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Francisco Miguel Pereira Brardo Ferreira. From all the consultations and clinical cases observed during the internship period, three were selected, focusing on the themes of ocular health, ocular surface and contact lenses, and binocular vision. The first case concerns a suspected diagnosis of angioid streaks in a 21-year-old patient, who subsequently underwent several complementary exams and was appropriately referred to another healthcare professional. The second case describes the adaptation of scleral contact lenses for a patient with keratoconus and a history of multiple unsuccessful adaptations. Corneal topography is essential, allowing for a precise characterization of the ocular surface to determine the best solution for the patient. The final case involves accommodative excess with secondary convergence excess in a young patient with significant near-work demands. Vision therapy was recommended as a solution to eliminate symptoms and restore normal flexibility and amplitudes of accommodation and vergence.
