Abstract(s)
Face a importância crescente do estudo da competitividade das empresas, ainda se
verifica a existência de algumas lacunas na investigação orientada para estudos de
âmbito científico, com rigor metodológico, na área do levantamento dos factores ou
determinantes da competitividade, ao nível dos recursos, capacidades e competências,
nomeadamente na forma como as empresas aplicam modelos, instrumentos, técnicas e
práticas de modo a serem competitivas e ganharem vantagem competitiva.
O objectivo desta investigação, centra-se no levantamento dos factores ou determinantes
da competitividade e das variáveis que afectam a competitividade das agências
bancárias, considerando a profunda transformação no nível competitivo que o sector
bancário português vem atravessando nos últimos tempos.
A informação necessária para o desenvolvimento desta investigação, foi recolhida
através do envio de 327 questionários a todas as agências bancárias da Caixa Geral de
Depósitos dos Distritos de Castelo Branco e Guarda (40 agências bancárias).
Deste modo, constatou-se na análise dos dados obtidos com o estudo, relativamente às
hipóteses testadas, que existe nos colaboradores das agências bancárias uma percepção,
quanto aos factores ou determinantes críticos da competitividade e confirma-se que: i) o
trabalho de qualidade influencia positivamente a competitividade das agências bancárias
ao nível do desenvolvimento de ideias para novos negócios e da organização das
actividades de trabalho; ii) a constante solicitação do gerente pela equipa, influência
negativamente (de modo moderado) a competitividade das agências bancárias ao nível
da organização das actividades de trabalho; iii) a qualidade dos colaboradores do sector
bancário e o esforço dispendido na resposta às solicitações dos clientes, influenciam
positivamente a competitividade das agências bancárias ao nível da preferência dos
clientes e iv) a cadeia de valores influencia positivamente a competitividade das
agências bancárias ao nível da taxa de sucesso no lançamento de novos produtos no
mercado. Por fim, também observou-se que: i) a competitividade das agências bancárias
não difere entre as direcções comerciais e ii) a competitividade das agências bancárias
difere de acordo com a avaliação de desempenho, com a planificação das actividades dos recursos humanos, com o sistema de incentivos e com a motivação dos respectivos gestores (gerentes).
Besides the increased importance of firms’ competitiveness and rigorous studies, we still verify the existence of some gaps in scientific studies, about factors/determinants of the competitiveness. Also, it is missing some deep studies about resources, capabilities and skills, and the applications of models, instruments, techniques and practical in order to firms become more competitive and attain a competitive advantage. The main objective of this investigation is to identify the main factors/determinants of the competitiveness and explore also, the main variables that influence the bank agencies competitiveness, in a context of a portuguese high market competitiveness. The data necessary to develop this survey was collected from 327 questionnaires, sent to the bank agencies of the Caixa Geral de Depósitos belonging to Castelo Branco and Guarda Districts. In this way, it was evidenced from the statistical analysis of the data and being in mind the hypotheses formulated that: i) the quality of work influences in a positive way the competitiveness of the bank agencies in terms of development of ideas for new businesses and the organization of the work activities; ii) the constant solicitation of the manager from the work teams, influence in a negative way (in moderate way) the competitiveness of the bank agencies in terms of work activities organizations; iii) the quality of the banking employees and the efforts spent in customers service, influence in a positive way the competitiveness of the bank agencies in terms of customers preferences and iv) the values chain influences the competitiveness of the bank agencies in terms of the success in launching new products to the market. Finally, it was also observed that: i) the competitiveness of the bank agencies does not seems different among Castelo Branco and Guarda Districts and ii) the competitiveness of the bank agencies differs from the performance measurement human resources activities planning, with the reward system and from the manager motivation.
