Abstract(s)
oportunidades fora do país.
conhecer e explorar novos horizontes a nível internacional.
produtora.
Martins SGPS, S.A..
The desire to get to know new cultures was coupled with the need to find new opportunities outside the country. It is from a very young age that I have an interest and desire to know and explore new horizons at an international level. When I started doing my first research to find the ideal production company for me, I always had as a priority to seek an internship in a country that had a relatively low cost of living, but at the same time offered me the professional guarantees that I needed. From the beginning, I committed myself to find an internship in a production company of excellence that was involved in very important projects, mainly in the field of advertising. For me, it would only make sense to do an internship if I could be in a top company. I really wanted to be able to collaborate with big brands and with experienced professionals who could help me to learn even more and in a direct or indirect way be possible references to my professional future. To make this happen, I knew that I had to search and find the ideal production company and then figure out how, as a trainee, I could add some kind of value to that company. Poland was then my first choice. Knowing the reality of this country, I knew that I could find the perfect conditions there to develop my professional skills and also to grow personally. In addition to being a country in a great economic expansion, Poland is also a very attractive destination for large producers because of their low market costs when compared to the rest of Europe, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that the quality of these project is neglected - quite the opposite. At the end of World War II, the film production in Poland was able to rise again. Idealized by the renowned actor Leon Schiller, the creation of the National Superior School of Cinema, Theater and Television of Lódz, gave a new artistic breath to the country, having a decisive impact in what would be the progress and innovation of the cinematographic productions in Poland. Taking Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Kieslowski or Roman Polanski as a reference, the school is even considered by The Hollywood Reporter, one of the Best International Film Schools confirming once again the status of "true artistic strength" that had previously been attributed to it. From this school, there are now many professionals who create and populate the best Polish production companies, bringing a superior quality to their structures and projects. It’s also important to mention the fact that Poland is a geographically wellpositioned country, which in some ways proves to be a key point for the many international collaborations achieved by polish producers. This was one of the parameters I considered when I made my research about possible production companies to do my internship. I knew that Polish language would certainly be one of my weaknesses, so I had to ensure that the company would have projects where English and Portuguese languages were really necessary. This is how the producer OTO Film comes about. In addition to having a status of being one of the best production companies operating in Poland, OTO Film has an incredible portfolio with many international productions. One of the most important client it’s the largest supermarket chain that belongs to a Portuguese business group named Jerónimo Martins SGPS, SA.. After I have made the first contacts and have sent my curriculum, the company looked to my professional skills with interest. The fact that my native language is Portuguese it was also a plus in the final decision. Just some days after that, I have received the final confirmation that soon I would be a new member in OTO Film Crew. This document aims to report my professional and personal experience of these 6 months across borders. The various challenges and activities that have been proposed to me will be described in detail in this document. Whenever possible I will refer some contents that I have learned during my first year of master’s degree in cinema an explain how these contents proved to be an important support for complete successfully this internship.
