A elaboração deste relatório, intitulado como “Suspeita de Glaucoma, Insuficiência de
Convergência, Adaptação de Lente de Contacto Híbrida num Queratocone”, afigura-se
como o culminar do período de estágio que foi desenvolvido durante seis meses na Clínica
Dr. Ergo - Ótica Aplicada, Lda em Viseu.
O Glaucoma é uma patologia caracterizada por alterações específicas do disco ótico e do
Campo Visual, geralmente acompanhadas de pressão intraocular elevada. A deteção
precoce é importante para um melhor diagnóstico e tratamento, de modo a prevenir a
cegueira irreversível.
A Insuficiência de Convergência é uma condição que se caracteriza por um
enfraquecimento ou por uma anomalia na capacidade normal de os olhos manterem a
Visão Binocular única de qualquer objeto à distância de trabalho. O tratamento pode
passar por Conselhos de Ergonomia Visual, Compensação Ótica, Terapia Visual, Prisma
Horizontal e Cirurgia. No caso apresentado, optou-se pela Terapia Visual.
O Queratocone é uma ectasia corneana que leva à diminuição de Acuidade Visual,
quantitativa e qualitativamente. O tratamento pode passar pela adaptação de Lentes de
Contacto Híbridas e a Topografia Corneana é um exame complementar de diagnóstico
fundamental na deteção desta condição.
The preparation of this report, titled as “Suspicion of Glaucoma, Convergence Insufficiency, Adaptation of Hybrid Contact Lens in a Keratoconus”, presents itself as the culmination of the internship period, that was developed for six months in “Clínica Dr.Ergo - Ótica Aplicada, Lda” in Viseu. The Glaucoma is a pathology characterized by specific optic disc and Visual Field changes, usually supported by high intraocular pressure. The early detection is important for a better diagnosis and treatment to prevent irreversible blindness. The Convergence Insufficiency is a condition characterized by the weakening or anomaly in the normal eye ability to maintain a singular Binocular Vision of any object at working distance. The treatment options include Visual Ergonomic Advice, Optical Compensation, Visual Therapy, Horizontal Prism and Surgery. In the presented case, Visual Therapy was the choice. The Keratoconus is a corneal ectasia which leads to a decrease of Visual Acuity, both quantitatively and qualitatively. The treatment can be done by the adaptation of Hybrid Contact Lens and Corneal Topography is a fundamental complementary diagnostic exam in the detection of this condition.
