Abstract(s)
The following document refers to the probation report, which aims to the end of the master’s degree in Optometry in Vision Sciences, at the University of Beira Interior. It will be reported and analyzed three cases with different degrees of complexity. The first case concerns a suspected ocular pathology, the second refers to an abnormality of binocular vision and finally the third concerns a case of contact lens. The first case addressed is related to a suspicion of ocular disease, in particular age-related macular degeneration. It was necessary to refer the patient to the specialty of ophthalmology, to proceed and confirm macular abnormalities using other complementary diagnostic tests in order to be found the most appropriate treatment. The second case refers to an abnormality of binocular vision, more particularly a convergence insufficiency. For the resolution of this case, it was proposed to the patient a plan of visual therapy and maintenance, since i tis the method that had better prognosis. Finally, the third case relates to an adaptation of hydrophilic toric contact lenses where there was a need to implement all the knowledge about the materials and parameters, thus allowing the user a good visual comfort and a stable visual acuity.
