Abstract(s)
This article analyses the efficiency levels of amateur sports clubs through recourse to the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) methodology and seeks specifically to evaluate how efficient and non-efficient clubs perceive the distinct contribution of stakeholders in attaining their respective levels of output efficiency. The results differentiate between the distinctly different levels of efficiency existing between such clubs and highlight significant differences in terms of the role of local government and associations and federations in attaining these results. The study furthermore suggests the best practices to be adopted by officials at nonefficient clubs with the objective of reducing or eliminating their shortfalls as regards the efficiency frontier.
