Abstract(s)
vivenciar as cidades.
(…) É a evolução da aplicabilidade do conceito
no âmbito do património e do turismo urbano.”
RAMOS, Catarina Isabel Mamede de Sousa - Turismo urbano a paisagem cultural do Porto. Coimbra [s.n.], 2010, P.15
In recent years, architecture and urban planning have struggled over the rapid expansion of cities, essentially in peripheral city areas, due to several reasons, leaving historic city center's to abandon. To fight this issue we take as a starting point the study of the evolution of cities, multiple factors that led to historic center's desertion, how to develop critical areas through knowledge and space analysis by presenting multiple guides, that in my opinion provide a new way of living the city. "The concept of development is something worn by a lack of consensus in the speeches and the multitude of adjectives that was winning as societies evolved. (...) It is the evolution of the applicability of the concept in the heritage and urban tourism. " RAMOS, Catarina Isabel Mamede de Sousa - Turismo urbano a paisagem cultural do Porto. Coimbra [s.n.], 2010, P.15 Though being a well debated subject, is also susceptible to disagreement, cities evolution needs to be weighted and thoughtful so it's essence can be preserved and thus being highlighted amongst others. Taking by example the city of Braga, it's the historic center that grants the city substance, enhanced by the legislation that protects the city urban feel, despite its preservation the conciliation with new technologies is essential to re-qualify and embrace new markets. "(...) The identity derived from physical substance, the history, context and real, in a way we could not imagine that anything contemporary - made by us - it contributes to it. But the fact of human growth is exponential implies that the past will become at some point too "small" to be inhabited and shared by those who are alive" Rem Koolhaas - Three texts on the city (P.31)
