Abstract(s)
conjunto.
The present dissertation focuses on the opportunities that arise from the transformation of post-industrial landscapes through Architectural Rehabilitation and the relationship with its natural and built surroundings. The importance of urban revitalization through the exercise of Architecture is growing, in this specific case we will study how to achieve it in the village of Minde, in the district of Santarém, through the rehabilitation of the Sazel building complex, composed of the factory volume and the housing of the respective owners. The border implantation, characteristic of these buildings, gives the intervention space a peculiar atmosphere, due to its positioning on the limit between the natural space of Polje de Mira-Minde and the consolidated urban space of the town of Minde. These features would eventually influence city planning and architecture. The result is, many times, a modest and factory architecture but with characteristics of «modernity», as is the case under study. Within the scope of the state of conservation, the factory volume had multiple areas in which it is imperative to act, both at the level of the structure and at the level of the facades; the house, in turn, is in a good state of conservation, however, the proposal will seek to standardize the exterior architectural language of the set, seeking a greater integration of the set. The functional discontinuity of the factory led the current owner to propose a change of uses. It was then decided to convert the Sazel industrial complex into a residence for the elderly (complementing the existing nursing home in the village), always seeking to respect the collective memory of the place. It is also intended with this project to reflect on the connection between architectural space and well-being and how the environment can influence a healthier aging process. This intervention also intends to reconnect the mindricos to the natural landscape in the background of the village - the Polje of Mira-Minde and simultaneously take advantage of its location close to the historic center of the village, also contributing to an active social life of the elderly and monitoring the routine of Minde.
