Abstract(s)
usualmente separados: o pessoal e o organizacional.
Copreneurship is an unusual term, unknown to most people, which calls a very specific situation: couples who own and run a business together. Copreneurs share commitments, responsibilities in their personal relationship and in the management of their organization. Experiencing a dynamic different from many other couples, due to the combination of these two environments, usually separate: the personal and the organizational. In addition to the impact of organizational reality on personal life, and vice versa, the management of the human resources area will also be the object of investigation in this strongly familiar context, an aspect not directly addressed by the existing literature. Since SMEs constitute the majority of Portuguese companies, it is in this group of companies that the majority of copreneurs are found, defining a qualitative methodology, specifically case studies, involving ten cases operating in Portugal, of various nationalities: Portuguese, Brazilian, French and Chinese. The results show that most of the interviewees perceive the difficulties and conflicts as being natural differences resulting from the situation in which they find themselves and not exactly destructive conflicts of the two realities: organizational and personal. The different nationalities did not dictate significant differences in the practices identified. At the same time, gender issues have faded in the roles played, especially in the labor area, while in the performance of domestic tasks, there is still a transition path from traditional roles to a more equal distribution of tasks. Finally, in the Human Resources area, there was only concern with the most core areas, such as the attribution of remunerations, recruitment and selection and training in the areas most essential to the business.
