Abstract(s)
adição à internet, a dependência do smartphone, a nomofobia e saúde mental,
– Short Version (SAS-SV), Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q-PT) e 10-item Kessler
Psychological Distress Scale (K10). Resultados: Verifica-se adição à internet, ausência
de dependência do smartphone e de nomofobia, e distress psicológico elevado. A relação
Objective: This study aims to observe the use of new technologies and analyze internet addiction, smartphone dependence, nomophobia, and mental health. It seeks to compare the study variables based on sociodemographic characteristics and online behaviors, assess the degree of association, and determine the predictive effect among the variables. Participants: A total of 305 individuals participated, of whom 229 were women and 75 were men, aged between 18 and 85 years. Method: For the research, a protocol was developed and disseminated online, consisting of a sociodemographic questionnaire and the following instruments: Internet Addiction Test (IAT), Smartphone Addiction Scale – Short Version (SAS-SV), Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q-PT), and the 10-item Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10). Results: Findings indicate internet addiction, absence of smartphone dependence and nomophobia, and high psychological distress. The relationship between internet addiction and smartphone dependence is significant, positive, and strong. Additionally, internet addiction and smartphone dependence, along with sociodemographic variables and online behavior variables, are significant predictors of depressive and anxiety symptoms. Conclusion: The findings reinforce the importance of implementing preventive and intervention measures to reduce the negative impact of new technology use on its users.
