O estudo teve
This dissertation presents a systematic review of the application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in the treatment of substance use. The study aimed to analyze the contributions of ACT in the treatment of people with problematic drug use, highlighting the mechanisms of psychological flexibility and acceptance as mediators of addictive behavior. Seventeen studies published between 2015 and 2025, selected from international scientific databases, were included. The results indicate that ACT contributes significantly to the management of substance use, improves the ability to cope with difficult thoughts and emotions, and promotes adaptive coping strategies. Furthermore, additional benefits are evident in psychological well-being, motivation for change, and relapse prevention. It is concluded that ACT constitutes an effective and promising approach in the context of psychological interventions for chemical dependency, being recommended as a complementary clinical practice in outpatient treatment programs and integrated therapies. This work thus provides an updated foundation for mental health professionals and researchers interested in evidence-based practices for substance use treatment.
