| dc.description.abstract | A pertinência e motivação para esta investigação surgem com a descoberta do hiato sociológico e, necessariamente, científico existente em relação a estudos que focam a transexualidade em Portugal. Também era evidente um hiato concernente à proteção jurídica desta população, porém este foi colmatado há relativamente pouco tempo com a introdução, e posterior remodelação, de legislação especifica, não querendo isto dizer que todas as necessidades destes indivíduos estejam supridas. Outro hiato que se mantém na realidade nacional é relativo à esfera social, concretamente: a falta de informação sobre e a falta de visibilidade da transexualidade, revelando a necessidade de alargar o conhecimento sociológico desta situação social. Procurando compreender os contextos e as vivências das pessoas transexuais, o principal objetivo desta dissertação é perceber se a heteronormatividade influencia a construção da identidade social dos indivíduos transexuais. E mesmo não sendo um dos nossos objetivos tecer teoria acerca deste tema, pretendemos dar voz aos indivíduos transexuais, para que se dissipe um pouco da invisibilidade que os rodeia. Para isso, em suporte a esta investigação, foi accionada a metodologia qualitativa, fazendo recurso das técnicas de entrevista semi-estruturada – tendo sido entrevistados oito homens transexuais e uma mulher transexual – e a de análise documental – onde foi analisada a legislação existente referente à identidade de género. Os resultados permitem-nos dizer que a importância e influência da cultura heteronormativa aplicam a sua influência nesta população. Recolhemos comportamentos, atitudes, maneiras de pensar e agir que correspondem à perpetuação do binarismo de sexo e às restantes dimensões que fazem parte da heteronormatividade. | dc.description.abstract | The relevance and motivation to elaborate this investigation arises with the discovery of the sociological and scientific gap existing about studies focusing on transsexuality in Portugal. Also, was evident a hiatus about juridical protection that focused this population; however, this was an end recently with introduction and remodulation of specific legislation, but this doesn’t mean the needs of these individuals haven’t all been suppressed yet. Another gap that still present on our national reality is related to social sphere: the lack of information and lack of visibility around this phenomenon. Seeking to understand the contexts and experiences of transsexual people the aim of this dissertation is to comprehend if the heteronormativity has some influences the construction of social identity of transsexual individuals. Even if elaborate theory isn’t one of ours goals about this subject, we intend to give voice to transsexual individuals to dissipate some of invisibility that surround them. For this to support the present investigation it was used the qualitative methodology, whose techniques used were the semi-structured interview. For this were interviewed eight transsexual men and a transsexual woman, the documental analysis was gender identity legislation was analyzed. The results of this empirical study allow us to say that the heteronormative culture is strong enough to influence this population. We collect behaviors, attitudes, ways of thinking and acting which correspond to the maintenance of sex binarism and another dimensions that belongs to heteronormativity. Otherwise, nuances have also been found in these individuals who show a challenge to the established social rules. | eng |
