A minha experiência profissionalizante englobou 3 vertentes: investigação, farmácia hospitalar e farmácia comunitária.
No primeiro capítulo é descrito o projeto de investigação. O envelhecimento consiste na perda contínua e gradual da integridade fisiológica, afetando todas as células, tecidos e órgãos. O sistema imunitário é afetado de uma maneira particular, resultando numa resposta imunitária ineficaz e lenta. A sua constante ativação leva a uma maior libertação de mediadores inflamatórios, desencadeando um estado inflamatório crónico, característico nos idosos. Este processo proporciona o ambiente ideal para o aparecimento de doenças relacionadas com a idade e a morte precoce. O objetivo deste estudo foi rever trabalhos originais sobre mediadores inflamatórios em idosos e verificar se há diferenças nas suas concentrações séricas entre idosos saudáveis e indivíduos mais jovens, igualmente saudáveis. Os resultados foram contraditórios uma vez que, para um mesmo marcador existiram estudos com resultados muito díspares. No entanto, parece haver uma tendência para o aumento dos níveis séricos da IL-6, TNF-a, IL-8 e PCR. Novos estudos devem ser desenvolvidos para adquirirmos um conhecimento mais profundo acerca deste tema.
Os restantes capítulos correspondem às componentes profissionais. O segundo capítulo é referente ao estágio desenvolvido nos serviços farmacêuticos do Hospital Sousa Martins, na Guarda, entre 22 de janeiro de 2018 e 16 de março de 2018. O terceiro capítulo diz respeito ao estágio na Farmácia Modelar, no Teixoso, decorrido entre 19 de março de 2018 a 1 de junho de 2018. Nestes relatórios encontram-se descritos os conhecimentos e competências técnicas desenvolvidas no âmbito da profissão farmacêutica e o funcionamento dos serviços, apoiado por um enquadramento legal.
My professional experience encompassed three aspects: research, hospital pharmacy and community pharmacy. The first chapter describes the research project. Aging consists of the continuous and gradual loss of physiological integrity, affecting all cells, tissues and organs. The immune system is affected in a way resulting in an ineffective and slow immune response. The immune system constant activation leads to a greater release of inflammatory mediators, triggering a chronic inflammatory state, characteristic in the elderly. This process provides the ideal environment for the emergence of age-related diseases and early death. The aim of this study was to review original works on inflammatory mediators in the elderly and to verify if there are differences in their serological concentrations between healthy elderly and younger adults. The results were very conflicting since, for the same marker, there were studies with very different results. However, it appears to be a trend towards increased serum levels of IL-6, TNF-a, IL-8 and CRP. New studies should be developed to gain a deeper understanding of this topic. The remaining chapters correspond to the professional components. The second chapter refers to the internship developed in the pharmaceutical services of the Hospital Sousa Martins, in Guarda, between January 22, 2018 and March 16, 2018. The third chapter concerns the internship in the Farmácia Modelar, in Teixoso, which runs from March 19, 2018 to June 1, 2018. These reports describe the technical knowledge and skills developed within the scope of the pharmaceutical profession and the operation of the services, supported by a legal framework.
