Abstract(s)
A literacia em saúde tem sido apontada por muitos como a chave para a melhoria dos indícios de saúde (Direção Geral de Saúde [DGS],2012; Organização Mundial de Saúde [OMS], 2012; Norman & Skinner, 2006; Nutbeam, 2000). A literacia em saúde em linha (eHealth) é uma das vertentes da literacia em saúde que começam a ser estudadas neste âmbito, visando melhorar a capacitação das pessoas na gestão do seu processo de saúde-doença (Brandão, 2012; Loureiro, Mendes, Barroso, Santos, & Ferreira, 2012; Norman & Skinner, 2006). Esta temática poderá ter especial interesse também a nível económico (Data Angel Policy Research Incorporated, 2009), nomeadamente na gestão de unidades de saúde.
Os objetivos deste estudo foram identificar o nível de literacia de utilizadores da internet portugueses e analisar a influência de algumas variáveis sociodemográficas e características laborais na literacia em eHealth. Para tal, realizou-se um inquérito constituído por duas partes: a) avaliação das características sociodemográficas, do nível de saúde e da utilização da internet; b) eHEALS.
Participaram 408 indivíduos, divididos em três grupos, consoante o local de inquérito: internet (n=142), na rua (n=147) e em serviços de Consulta Externa de 2 unidades hospitalares da região centro de Portugal (n=119).
Os resultados evidenciaram Literacia mediana em eHealth; que pessoas mais novas, com mais habilitações literárias e que preencheram o inquérito pela internet ou nos serviços de consulta externa apresentam maior literacia em eHealth. Verificaram-se correlações estatisticamente significativas para as variáveis idade, habilitações académicas, ter algum familiar com doença crónica, ser profissional de saúde e ainda correlação com maior frequência de uso da internet.
Conclui-se assim, que existem algumas variáveis que influenciam a literacia em saúde da população portuguesa, que devem ser considerados no âmbito da gestão de unidades de saúde, nomeadamente para o desenvolvimento de programas de educação para a saúde e gestão da doença. Estas considerações estendem-se também aos profissionais de saúde, recurso essencial a uma medicina baseada na evidência e à promoção da capacitação dos utentes.

Health literacy in line (e-Health) is one of the health literacy branch that is beginning to be studied about the subject, and aims to improve the ability of people in their health-illness process management (Brandão, 2012; Loureiro, Mendes, Barroso, Santos, & Ferreira, 2012; Norman & Skinner, 2006). This subject also might be an special interest at the economical level (Data Angel Policy Research Incorporated, 2009), namely in health units management. This study aimed to identify the literacy level of the internet Portuguese users and also to analyze the influence of some socio-demographic variables and work characteristics in the eHealth literacy. Thus, it has been made an inquiry composed by two parts: a) assessment of the socio-demographic characteristics, health level and of the internet use; b) eHEALS. There were 408 individuals participating in the study, divided into three groups, in accordance with the inquiry local: the internet (n=142), the street (n=147) and in external consultations from two hospitals of the centre region of Portugal (n=119). Outcomes showed that: there was a median Literacy in eHealth; younger people, with more literary qualifications and that have filled the inquiry by the internet or in the external consultation services have presented larger literacy in eHealth. There were verified statistically significative correlations to the age, academic qualifications, have some familiar with chronic disease, to be a health professional and a correlation with a greater frequency of the internet use. It is possible to conclude that: there are variables that have influence on the health literacy of the Portuguese population that must be considered in the sphere of health units management, namely with the purpose of develop education health education programs and illness management. These statements also extend themselves to the health professionals, who are an essential resource to an evidence-based medicine and to the promotion of the capacity of the patients.
