Abstract(s)
Theoretically, the concepts of Performance Art and Happening appear in the textbooks of Drawing curricula, in the typology of Materials and Contemporary Stands, however the literature is scarce concerning proposals articulating the importance of Theatre, as Dramatic Expression, with education in Visual Arts in the Secondary school level, even internationally. Given such evidence, this report aims to: i) identify and explain the links that could happen between Theater, as Plastic Creation of the Spectacle, including the particularities of Dramatic Expression and the so-called Visual Arts in order to promote creative, cognitive, emotional, aesthetic, and social balanced development of the students; ii) provide, implement, and monitor proposals for Didactic-Pedagogic Work Units where the Theater is linked with the discipline of Drawing. The report focuses on the case study of Agrupamento de Escolas do Fundão (AEF). Qualitative and quantitative data was collected from the collaboration of a group of students and alumni, the director of the school, teacher of Visual Arts and stakeholders outside the School community. Results show a clear association between the Theatre and the Visual Arts. This association is reflected throughout the evidences gathered and are based on statements, documents and observation. From the participation of the students, in a pedagogical workshop on the theme of the body and technological media, learning incentives were reflected on the levels of a greater trace fluidity, increased knowledge of the human anatomy and visual space. Further evidence is reflected in the students testimonies of improved competencies resulting from the interdisciplinary experience between artistic areas (eg. communication, creativity, interpretation, artistic creation of the spectacle). It was also possible to classify the incentives for the development of students into five categories: creative, cognitive, emotional, aesthetic and social. The teaching staff of the Visual Arts group of AEF revealed a favorable opinion concerning the association between the Visual Arts and the Theater showing a clear acceptance of such interdisciplinarity, and how this relationship potentates students learning. Regarding to the external environment, the results demonstrate a manifested interest in collaborating on further proposals of short and long-term activities associating the Drawing curricula to the Theater, both at vocational and training levels. Based on the present results, and the work and experiences developed in this area, this report proposes Pedagogic Teaching Work Units articulating the Drawing curricula with the Theater.
