A presente investigação se propõe a compreender de que forma os jornais portugueses
discutem e enquadram as questões de gênero nas suas coberturas online. Para tal, foi
realizada uma análise que tem como objetos de estudo quatro importantes jornais
portugueses: Correio da Manhã, Diário de Notícias, Expresso e Público.
Em termos metodológicos, foi realizado um recorte de seis meses, de janeiro a junho de
2022. As peças jornalísticas que pautaram o gênero veiculadas nos websites dos
referidos jornais durante este período foram analisadas à luz da Análise de Conteúdo
(Bardin, 2016), com o auxílio do software NVivo.
Como resultados, podemos destacar que o espaço dedicado à cobertura de questões de
gênero na amostra analisada é reduzido e pouco especializado. Além disso, o pouco
espaço existente apresenta, em geral, pouco aprofundamento dos temas abordados,
poucos debates que busquem promover as questões de gênero sob uma perspectiva
cidadã e elementos que reforçam discursos antigênero.
This investigation aims to understand how Portuguese newspapers discuss and frame gender issues in their online news coverage. To this end, an analysis was carried out using four important Portuguese newspapers as objects of study: Correio da Manhã, Diário de Notícias, Expresso and Público. In methodological terms, the analysis comprehended the months from January to June 2022. The journalistic pieces published on the websites of the referred newspapers during this period were analyzed in the light of Content Analysis (Bardin, 2016), with the help of the NVivo software. As a result, we can highlight that the space dedicated to discuss gender issues in the analyzed sample is small and not very specialized. In addition to that, the reduced existing space presents, in general, little depth of the topics addressed, few debates that seek to promote gender issues from a citizen perspective and elements that reinforce anti-gender discourses.
