Abstract(s)
variados povos, suscitando mitos e lendas.
rural.
Portugueses do Vinho.
vinho.
Wine is a very important product in the history of humanity. Involved in symbols and religions, it has become a source of inspiration for the various peoples, bringing along myths and legends. In Portugal, wine production is part of its cultural roots and its landscape. The country has many regions that are worldly recognized, such as Dão, Douro, Alentejo, and Beira Interior. So, enotourism has qualified to respond to an increasing relevance in Portugal’s economy. This thesis aim is to contribute to the appreciation of the wine’s culture, taking into consideration its influence in society, landscape, economy, gastronomy, and patrimony of the Beira Interior region, by creating an architectural project for a cellar, located in Freixedas, county of Pinhel, district of Guarda. The region of Beira Interior is the major producer of wine, and Pinhel was elected “The City of Wine 2020/2021” by the Association of Portuguese Wine Counties. The architectural project of the cellar tends to respect the function that the wine production requires and demands, incorporating new spaces dedicated to the visitors. The building was developed in order to have a direct connection to the vineyards and the landscape, allowing the visitors to have a deeper involvement with all the processes of the wine production, from the plantation of the vine until its final product – the wine.
