Abstract(s)
Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses PRISMA-Search (PRISMA-S) (Extension to
PRISMA Development Protocol).
e 3 a estudos quantitativos.
e promotores do envelhecimento saudável.
The purpose of this Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was to understand the impact of Physical Activity and Spirituality on Healthy Aging. To accomplish this, we used the guidelines provided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and MetaAnalyses PRISMA-Search (PRISMA-S) (Extension to PRISMA Development Protocol). From the databases searched: Web of Science, Scopus, B-on, SciELO, we obtained an initial set of 130 articles and, subsequently, the exclusion of some of these articles for not meeting the eligibility criteria. Thus, for this study, 7 articles were included, of which 4 were qualitative studies and 3 were quantitative studies. We noticed the lack of articles that contained both variables. The articles analyzed brought an ethnic and cultural variety and a consensus that spirituality is an indispensable variable in many cultures, besides the socialization that it makes possible. The studies analyzed suggest that the practice of physical activity and spirituality, when combined, positively impact healthy aging, since these two variables contribute to cognitive, physical, social, and psychological functioning, enhancing it. The data regarding the impact of spirituality practice and physical activity practice and adherence to harmful physical health behaviors proved incongruent. Having information about health beneficial behaviors does not seem to be sufficient for adherence to them. The studies suggest more effective intervention programs for the elderly to make them aware of the importance of being self-responsible and active for their health. It is imperative to improve existing programs, requesting the involvement of health and education professionals in the development of more attractive programs, better suited to the age group and its limitations (auditory, motor, visual, etc.), in short, where the elderly feel more motivated to adhere to behaviors that protect and promote healthy aging.
