Desde o seu aparecimento, a filosofia Lean tem sido reconhecida um pouco por todo o
mundo como uma filosofia que engloba um conjunto de ferramentas responsáveis por
otimizar os resultados produtivos das empresas e a eficiência das mesmas.
Assim, e paralelamente à sua evolução, muitos foram os estudos realizados no âmbito de
avaliar as implementações Lean por parte das empresas e os resultados com ela
conseguidos, não sendo Portugal exceção. No entanto, não foi possível identificar na
literatura nenhum estudo semelhante realizado na região da Beira Interior. Identificada
esta lacuna, procurou-se com este trabalho avaliar a implementação de ferramentas Lean
na Indústria Transformadora desta região que recentemente tem registado um franco
crescimento económico e industrial.
Nesse âmbito, recorreu-se à elaboração de um questionário enviado a empresas da
Indústria Transformadora da região da Beira Interior procurando-se avaliar a
implementação Lean, as razões por detrás da implementação, as dificuldades sentidas,
os benefícios conseguidos pelas empresas e os fatores-chave para o sucesso da
implementação.
Desta forma, foi possível estudar a implementação de ferramentas Lean num conjunto
de 23 empresas de diversos setores de atividade tendo-se concluído que 91,30% das
empresas presentes no estudo implementam Lean nas suas atividades e registam
benefícios bastante satisfatórios.
Da revisão da literatura foi ainda possível identificar alguns estudos semelhantes
realizados em contexto nacional, tendo sido possível comparar os resultados conseguidos
na Beira Interior com o panorama nacional. Assim, conclui-se que apesar das
especificidades da região, a implementação de Lean bem como os resultados que dela
advêm possuem semelhanças aos registados a nível nacional.
Since its emergence, the Lean philosophy has been recognized all over the world as a philosophy that encompasses a set of tools responsible for optimizing companies' production results and efficiency. As such, and in parallel with its evolution, many studies have been carried out to evaluate Lean implementations by companies and the results achieved, and Portugal is no exception. However, it was not possible to identify in the literature any similar studies carried out in the Beira Interior region. Having identified this gap, the aim of this study was to evaluate the implementation of Lean tools in the manufacturing industry in this region, which has recently experienced rapid economic and industrial growth. To this end, a questionnaire was sent to manufacturing companies in the Beira Interior region in an attempt to assess Lean implementation, the reasons behind implementation, the difficulties experienced, the benefits achieved by the companies and the key factors for successful implementation. In this way, it was possible to study the implementation of Lean tools in a group of 23 companies from different sectors of activity, concluding that 91.30% of the companies in the study implement Lean in their activities and record very satisfactory benefits. From the literature review, it was also possible to identify some similar studies carried out in the national context, and it was possible to compare the results achieved in Beira Interior with the national panorama. Thus, it can be concluded that despite the specificities of the region, the implementation of Lean and the results that come from it are similar to those regarding the national level.
