Abstract(s)
We are probably in the beginning of the fourth industrial revolution, and with it we witness the emergence of new technologies and new commercial and economics paradigms. Such as in the previous industrial revolutions, the changes will not be restricted to the industry, but they will also have implications in all the aspects of our lives. The developments in the information and communication technologies associated with the advances in artificial intelligence, are leading to a level of automation never achieved before. Much of this automation is being done using a new design of robots. The first industrial robots emerged in the 1960s and they are already being widely accepted as a way to improve quality and productivity, at least for the last three decades, issues such as workers safety and high prices of this technology have become an obstacle to is implementation. Thus, facing this challenge, a new generation of robots, called Cobots, “collaborative robots”, is gaining importance. With the cobots it is possible overcome the safety issues and work side by side with the human workers in safety. The above, this work seeks to identify and exploit the new technologies associated with the industry 4.0, in particular the cobots, as well the main challenges in their implementation. In addition to the technological impacts are presented the economic and social impacts resulting from this new revolution.
