Abstract(s)
XIX.
Set in an environment dominated by nature, Quinta Acciaioly owned by Cecilia Zino Foundation”. It is a 19th-century building located on the north coast of Madeira, in Santana “sítio do Pico dos Tanoeiros”. It once was owned by Louis-Auguste Acciaioly, who then rented it to hikers who visited the northern zone to get to know the Laurissilva forest through walks along the “levadas”. Consequently, this house, at the end of the century well-known for its element of historical and patrimonial interest, entered a process of degradation and abandonment that led to its present state of ruin. In conclusion, taking into account its state and the needs presented by the site and raised by the locals, this Masters dissertation in Architecture proposes to rehabilitate the former hotel, making it possible to provide visitors with experiences once experienced by others, and at the same time proposing the construction of shelters, small T1 accommodation units with the main goal to provide an adventurous and free experience in nature.
