Abstract(s)
A relação recíproca entre a cidade e a sociedade contemporâneas, desperta discussões e
reflexões sobre a diversidade e transformação dos usos do solo, que, inevitavelmente,
remetem para a condição do território e da identidade da cidade, numa época marcada pela
mobilidade.
Desde as últimas décadas do século XX, em particular desde a adesão de Portugal à
Comunidade Económica Europeia (1986), assiste-se a uma construção e transformação
aceleradas das infra-estruturas de mobilidade do território nacional. Este acréscimo
construtivo levanta inevitavelmente questões sobre a governabilidade, a estratégia e a
organização do território e do espaço urbano.
Esta dissertação faz uma reflexão sobre estratégias e políticas de governabilidade do
território e sobre cidade – áreas metropolitanas, cidades médias e cidades contemporâneas –
remetendo a investigação para as questões de mobilidade, dos transportes e dos fluxos
urbanos.
Como prática projectual de sustentação da reflexão teórica desta dissertação, propomos um
Terminal de Autocarros em Campanhã como solução para os problemas e necessidades,
identificados no decorrer da desta investigação sobre a cidade do Porto. Propõe-se assim um
equipamento que permita responder às necessidades do transporte colectivo rodoviário e aos
problemas de circulação da cidade, inserindo-se estrategicamente na vizinhança da Estação
de Campanhã, possibilitando a optimização e a cooperação com o actual sistema de
transportes.
O objectivo desta proposta é apresentar uma infra-estrutura que além de funcional, contribua
para a dinâmica social, cultural e económica, colocando a arquitectura ao serviço da
estratégia e organização do território.
The reciprocal relationship between the city and the contemporary society, arouses discussions and reflections about the diversity and transformation of the uses of soil, which inevitably refer to the condition of the territory and to the identity of the city, in an era marked by mobility. Since the last decades of the twentieth century, particularly since Portugal became a member of the European Economic Community (1986), we are assisting to an accelerated construction and transformation of the mobility infrastructures of the national territory. This constructive increase inevitably incites questions about the governability, the strategy and the organization of the territory and of the urban space. This dissertation make a reflection about strategies and policies of governability of the territory and about the city – metropolitan areas, médium size cities and contemporary cities – forwarding the investigation to the issues of mobility, of the transport and of the urban fluxes. As a projectual practice support of the theoretical reflection of this dissertation, we propose a Bus Terminal in Campanhã as a solution to the problems and needs identified in the course of this investigation about the city of Oporto. Therefore we propose an equipment that allows to answer to the needs of the road public transport and to the city circulation problems, in a strategy integration in the neighborhood of Campanhã station, enabling the optimization and the cooperation with the current transport system. The objective of this proposal is to provide an infrastructure that beyond functional, contributes to the social, cultural and economic dynamics, by placing the architecture at the service of the strategy and organization of the territory.
