Abstract(s)
O presente relatório foi realizado no âmbito da unidade curricular “Estágio” inserido no
Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Farmacêuticas. Este encontra-se dividido em dois
capítulos, sendo o primeiro, correspondente à vertente de investigação e o segundo
referente ao estágio curricular em Farmácia Comunitária.
O primeiro capítulo, aborda o uso de canábis em animais de companhia, uma vez que esta
é uma área de crescente interesse, não só pelos benefícios observados na medicina
humana como também pela necessidade de encontrar soluções no que toca a ansiedade,
dor crónica, inflamação... A Cannabis sativa é uma das plantas mais antigas do mundo e
apresenta bastante relevância económica. Neste âmbito, a vertente de investigação tem
como objetivo clarificar a informação bibliográfica disponível até à data e perceber em que
condições se deve instituir uma terapêutica à base de canábis. A descoberta do sistema
endocanabinóide, no início dos anos 90 aumentou o interesse desta planta a nível
medicinal. A partir daí, o conhecimento relativamente aos constituintes da canábis tem
sido aprofundado, assim como o seu benefício terapêutico em diversas patologias, nas
quais a terapia convencional não consegue alcançar resultados terapêuticos satisfatórios.
No caso dos animais já existem estudos que também demonstram eficácia de produtos à
base desta planta, nomeadamente ao nível da ansiedade, dor e inflamação. Noutras
patologias, é necessário e urgente que sejam desenvolvidos mais estudos randomizados
controlados de modo a aumentar o conhecimento científico, levando à aprovação de mais
medicamentos. A nível regulamentar e legislativo, assim como na literatura, existe uma
grande lacuna entre os diferentes países europeus, o que dificulta o acesso e
comercialização de produtos à base de canábis, tanto em humanos como em animais.
O segundo capítulo corresponde à descrição de todas as funções desempenhadas ao longo
do estágio curricular em Farmácia Comunitária, realizado na Farmácia Moderna que
decorreu entre 12 de setembro de 2022 e 27 de janeiro de 2023, sob a orientação da Dra.
Ana Raquel, diretora técnica da farmácia.
This report was carried out within the scope of the “Internship” curricular unit included in the Integrated Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. This is divided into two chapters, the first corresponding to the research component and the second referring to the curricular internship in Community Pharmacy. The first chapter addresses the use of cannabis in companion animals, as this is an area of growing interest, not only because of the benefits observed in human medicine but also because of the need to find solutions when it comes to anxiety, chronic pain, inflammation… Cannabis sativa is one of the oldest plants in the world and has great economic relevance. In this context, the research aspect present in this report aims to clarify the information available to date and understand under what conditions a cannabis-based therapy should be instituted. The discovery of the endocannabinoid system, at the beginning of the 90s, also increased the interest of this plant at a medicinal level. Conventional therapy fails to achieve satisfactory therapeutic results. There are already studies in animals that demonstrate the effectiveness of using products based on this plant, namely for anxiety, pain and inflammation. For other pathologies, it is necessary and urgent that more randomized controlled studies be developed in order to increase the scientific evidence that will lead to the approval of more drugs. At the regulatory and legislative level, as well as in the literature, there is a large gap between the different European countries, which makes access and commercialization of cannabis - based products difficult, both for humans and animals.
