Abstract(s)
Introdução: A saúde mental perinatal abrange a saúde mental durante a gravidez e o
Excel 365® e IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 25.0® (IBM Corp.,
Armonk, NY).
Depressão Pós-Parto, no ano 2019, pré-pandemia.
Introduction: Perinatal mental health covers mental health during pregnancy and the first year after birth. As this is influenced by the patient's psychiatric background, by her socioeconomic context and also by the occurrence of a range of changes in the psychosocial and physiological sphere throughout this period, it is of interest to deepen our knowledge as well as to invest on the care to be provided in such a vulnerable period for a woman. We are currently experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic, which represents a crisis in the various domains of our society. Given all the changes that this crisis has caused in the daily lives of the population and, in particular, of pregnant women, both in the follow-up of patients and in the psychological consequences in which all these measures culminated, we can assume the pandemic as an aggravating factor of this vulnerability state. Objectives: To explore the effect of COVID-19 prevention measures on the mental health of postpartum women followed at the Centro Hospitalar Universitário Cova da Beira, in particular, on the incidence of Postpartum Anxiety and Depression. Methods: The initial sample of this study is composed by 240 women, of which 132 answered to the EPDS scale - Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale, answers that are subject to study. Statistical analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel 365® and IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 25.0® software (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY). Results: We didn’t find a statistically significant association between the variables, the year and the result obtained on the EPDS scale, except for a longer gestation period, which could translate into a greater propensity to have developed Postpartum Depression, in the year 2019, pre-pandemic. Conclusion: The COVID-19 factor seems to be a predisposing factor or potentiator of risk factors for pathologies such as Anxiety and Postpartum Depression, however, it is important and interesting to have more studies to deepen these results.
