| dc.description.abstract | A invisibilidade do trabalho das mulheres na arquitetura exige que se deem passos largos no sentido da igualdade de género. Existe ainda uma falta de conhecimento e reconhecimento do trabalho realizado pelas arquitetas portuguesas. É fundamental dar a conhecê-lo, bem como às suas histórias, e contribuir dessa forma para uma cada vez maior visibilidade das arquitetas e para a sua inclusão na História da Arquitetura Portuguesa. A presente dissertação procura dar voz ao tema das mulheres na arquitetura no contexto da arquitetura municipal. O primeiro momento do trabalho consta de uma análise do contributo de algumas arquitetas precursoras portuguesas na difícil caminhada para pertencerem à profissão. Engloba também uma reflexão sobre o trabalho dos arquitetos e arquitetas municipais em Portugal, onde se mencionam aspetos relacionados com as suas competências, direitos e deveres e são referidos alguns constrangimentos à sua ação. Na parte considerada o eixo fulcral deste estudo, percorre-se o percurso académico e profissional de Ana Isabel Aranda e Cunha (n. 1961), arquiteta com trabalho extenso na Câmara Municipal do Fundão, na Beira Interior, dando ênfase a alguns aspetos relevantes desta sua atividade. Ana Cunha é uma arquiteta que, no interior do país, longe das luzes da ribalta, trabalha pela causa pública. O anonimato afasta-a da visibilidade dos starchitects, apesar de a sua ação contribuir decisivamente para o equilíbrio e sustentabilidade do património ambiental, cultural, edificado, da cidade e do território onde trabalha. | dc.description.abstract | The invisibility of women’s work in architecture demands significant steps towards gender equality. There still is a lack of knowledge and recognition about the work carried out by Portuguese women architects. It is essential to make it known, along with their stories, contributing in this way to the visibility increase of women architects and their inclusion in the History of Portuguese Architecture. This dissertation seeks to give voice to the topic of women in architecture within the context of municipal architecture. The first part of the work consists of the analysis about the contribution of some pioneering Portuguese female architects in the challenging journey to belong to the profession. It also includes a reflection on the work of municipal architects in Portugal, mentioning aspects related to their skills, rights and duties and highlighting some constraints to their action. In the part that I consider the centre axis of this study, I will focus and trace the academic and professional journey of Ana Isabel Aranda e Cunha (b. 1961), an architect with extensive work at the Municipal Council of Fundão, in the Beira Interior region, emphasizing some relevant aspects of her activity. Ana Cunha is an architect who, in the inland regions of the country, far from the spotlight, works for the public cause. The anonymity keeps her away from the visibility of the starchitects, despite her actions decisively contributing to the balance and sustainability of the environmental, cultural, built heritage of the city and the territory where she works. This study aims to highlight her work, share her story, thus contributing to increasing the visibility of Portuguese women architects and to the construction of a real, broad and diverse History of Portuguese Architecture. | eng |
