Fora do nosso próprio mundo há um vasto mundo de estórias que merecem ser contadas. Todos os dias, uma pequena parte dessas estórias chegam a vida de milhares de pessoas espalhadas pelo mundo. Os correspondentes estrangeiros, um pouco por todo mundo, interiorizam os valores sociais e culturais que uma sociedade, muitas vezes bastante diferentes da sua, tem. Buscam nela as pequenas estórias que pode contar ao seu público e dão assim a conhecer ao mundo uma nova realidade. Este é o trabalho dos correspondentes estrangeiros que são jornalistas que se dedicam à busca de particularidades que podem marcar a diferença, que podem chamar à atenção para um problema mundial. Muitos dos correspondentes estrangeiros permanecem num país por tempo suficiente para serem considerados locais. É uma das situações dos correspondentes estrangeiros em Portugal. Ao estudarmos estes profissionais temos por objectivo descobrir o que escrevem estes jornalistas sobre Portugal. Não podemos esquecer que, é o trabalho destes profissionais que transmite a imagem de Portugal para o mundo.
Outside our own world there is a larger world full of stories that deserve to be told. Everyday, a small part of that stories arrive at the life of thousands of people all over the world. The foreign correspondents are all around the world understanding values of this society, many times, quite different of there own society, in order to find little stories that they can bring to there public which would given to them the knowledge and the understanding of a new reality. This is the work of the foreign correspondents, who are journalists that are dedicated of the finding of little things, that can make the difference or to call the attention to an world problem. Many foreign correspondents stay in a country for so long that they are considerate as locals and that is one of the situations that are present in Portugal. Our intention in studying these professionals was to find out what they write about Portugal. We can not forget that the work of these journalists is what broadcast the image of Portugal to the world.
