Abstract(s)
A chegada do cinema a Portugal, no Estado Novo, veio a despertar a curiosidade na sociedade,
sendo uma nova “praça” para o encontro e o lazer social. O impacto foi tão grande que, por todo
o país, a construção dos Cineteatrostornou-se imprescindível. Contudo, este equipamento socio
cultural viu-se confrontado com a evolução das tecnologias que, rapidamente, ofereceram às
pessoas a possibilidade de criarem novas vivencias e lazeres, tais como ver televisão.
Consequentemente, a mudança de hábitos, da rotina e das mentalidades da sociedade foi um
facto e foi acontecendo, gradualmente. O que eram espaços de lazer e diversão, como é o caso
dos Cineteatros foram, então, substituidos pelas novas tecnologias e meios urbanos, o que levou
ao abandono e à degradação, que é uma realidade constante até aos dias de hoje. A revolução
tecnológica veio para ficar e tende a evoluir cada vez mais no nosso dia a dia, criando uma
sociedade cada vez mais globalizada e individualizada.
Um cineteatro é considerado património Português, que é dotado de memórias e deixou um
legado histórico e arquitetónico. Como tal, é necessário resgatar aquilo que foi a sua história e
cada traço impresso, procurando dar-lhe uma nova vida, novos conceitos e dinamismos,
teletransportando-o, assim, do passado para se integrar no presente. Através dos casos de
estudo e para que esse projecto seja possível, é necessário investigar novos métodos, novas
funcionalidades, novos dinamismos e ideias que sejam capazes de responder aos requisitos
actuais e que se alinhem com a sua época arquitetónica. Desta forma, é possível preservar a
memória de um lugar.
The arrival of cinema in Portugal, in the Estado Novo, aroused curiosity in society, being a new “place” for meeting and social leisure. The impact was so great that, throughout the country, the construction of Movie Theaters became essential. However, this socio-cultural equipment was confronted with the evolution of technologies that quickly offered people the possibility of creating new experiences and leisure, such as watching movies in their own homes, with the arrival of television and other means. Consequently, the change of habits, routine and mentalities of society was a fact and was happening, gradually. What used to be a space for leisure and entertainment, such as Movie Theaters, were then replaced by new technologies and urban environments, which led to abandonment and degradation, which is a constant reality to this day. The technological revolution is here to stay and tends to evolve more and more in our daily lives, creating an increasingly globalized and individualized society. The Movie theater is considered Portuguese heritage, which is endowed with memories and left a historical and architectural legacy. As such, it is necessary to rescue what was its history and each printed feature, trying to give it a new life, new concepts and dynamism, thus teleporting it from the past to integrate itself into the present. Through the case studies and for this project to be possible, it is necessary to investigate new methods, new features, new dynamisms and ideas that are capable of responding to current requirements and that are in line with its architectural time. In this way, it is possible to preserve the memory of a place.
