Num tempo e contexto em que a reabilitação e os centros históricos das cidades são um tema cada vez mais discutidos em todas as áreas de intervenção a nível mundial, a Arquitetura assume um papel fundamental neste conceito e na forma de o pensar e como aplicar para que a sua essência não seja perdida.
O principal objetivo desta investigação prende-se com a elaboração de uma proposta de reabilitação de um edifício, em elevado estado de degradação, o antigo Cine Teatro da cidade de Chaves. Os Cine Teatros trouxeram o melhor de dois mundos, o mundo do teatro e o mundo do cinema. Até ao século XX o teatro era a principal fonte de entretenimento da população, no entanto, com o chegar do novo cinema, novas formas e formatos de o ver e transmitir tornaram, o teatro um pouco esquecido.
Um pouco por todo o país inúmeros Cine Teatros foram construídos, é onde se observa um abandono dos centros históricos, este vê-se transformado em periferia, surgem novos centros enquanto os tradicionais se veem envelhecer. Os habitantes que povoam o centro histórico já não são habitantes permanentes. Trata-se da realidade do urbano sem vida urbana, e consequente degradação do seu património, sendo imperativo a sua requalificação e preservação para que a sociedade atual e vindoura possam usufruir, apreciar e conhecer a sua importância histórica, intrinsecamente ligada ao local. Este tipo de edifícios com capacidade para se adaptar, aproveitando o que têm de melhor, a sua história e localização, podem vir a tornar-se de novo no centro da cultura das pequenas cidades onde estão implantados.
Esta é a verdade/realidade do antigo Cine Teatro de Chaves que se encontra encerrado há mais de quinze anos, surge então a necessidade de encontrar uma nova oportunidade de se expor como outrora o chamado de Cine - Parque inaugurado em 1929.
In a time and context in which rehabilitation and historical city centres are a topic which is increasingly under discussion in all intervention areas worldwide, architecture plays a key role in this concept and the way it is considered, as well as the manner in which it is applied, so hat its essence is not lost. The main objective of this study concerns the drawing up of a rehabilitation proposal for a building, in an advanced state of degradation, the former Cine Theatre in the city of Chaves. The cine-theatres brought about the best of both worlds, the world of theatre and the world of cinema. Until the twentieth century the theatre was the population’s main source of entertainment. However, with the arrival of the new cinema, and new ways and formats of viewing and transmitting it, the theatre was somewhat forgotten. Numerous Cine Theatres were built all over the country, resulting in the abandonment of historical centres and a movement into the suburbs. The emergence of new centres has become evident as the traditional ones are slowly ageing. The inhabitants that populate the historical centre are no longer permanent inhabitants. This is the reality of the city without urban life, and the consequent degradation of its heritage. Therefore, there is a need for its rehabilitation and preservation so that the current and future society can enjoy, appreciate and learn about its historical significance, which is intrinsically linked to the site. These types of buildings with their capacity for adaptation, taking advantage of the best they have to offer, their history and location, are likely to become, once again, the cultural centre of the small towns where they are located. Si This is the truth/reality of the old Cine Theatre in Chaves that has been closed for more than fifteen years, making it necessary to find a new opportunity for it to expose itself as it did in the past as the once-called Cine – Park, inaugurated in 1929.
