Abstract(s)
This qualitative research aims to analyze the uses of relationship applications for mobile devices by men gay gender, namely Grindr and Tinder in order to support an approach of plural masculinities from the queer theory perspective. The cyberculture and convergences are mediated spaces that become part of the real when individuals merge with their profiles, created and recreated in the attempt to belong and in the search for equal and different. Based on an enlarged theoretical-methodological support to creates our analytical framework the content analysis of 137 profiles was carried out with the addition of eleven semistructured interviews in a non-participant observation. We were able to verify through culture, consumption, identity and technologies, how the processes of self-identification and non-identification between users are developed. The study contributes to the reflection on the possible uses of the technologies, highlighting a prevalent normativity that conditions and limits the plural and dissident performances of gender and sexualities on what concerns masculinities.
