Abstract(s)
A reabilitação de espaços históricos sempre gerou preocupações e algumas polemicas entre o público e até entidades governamentais. Já a demolição de edifícios antigos para dar lugar a novo edificado tende a despertar emoções ainda mais negativas, mesmo quando estes se encontram abandonados ou em estados deploráveis. Há um receio de perda de identidade e história do local, olhando o novo como algo invasivo e de carácter negativo.
Pretende-se com esta dissertação uma reflexão sobre novas construções em contextos históricos e como os mesmos podem contribuir de forma positiva para a salubridade e reabilitação das mesmas, sem prejudicar a identidade do local e sua herança cultural.
Após esta reflexão, segue-se a elaboração de uma proposta para a reabilitação da zona da Judiaria da Covilhã.
The rehabilitation of historic spaces always produced some concerns and controversies within the public and even law makers. And the demolition of old buildings and their replacement with modern constructions, generates a bigger and more negative reaction, even if said buildings are abandoned or in an aggravated state of degradation. There’s fear of identity loss and history, thus the new is seen as something invasive and of bad character. The objective of this dissertation is a reflection on new constructions in historic contexts and how these buildings can bring a positive change to these areas, without harming its identity and heritage. Following this reflection, a project for the Judaic center of Covilhã will be elaborated.
