Abstract(s)

With all this advancement, new concepts emerge, one of them is the concept of Industry 4.0. The core idea of Industry 4.0 is to implement and make use of information and service technologies so that production operates in a flexible, efficient and ecological way with high quality and low cost. These advances and improvements bring more complexity to the system, so high flexibility is required in the production resources, planning and control of them. Consequently, systems emerge to compensate for such complexity, one such system is the MES upon which this work will focus. Thus, this dissertation aims to study the interconnection of MES with Industry 4.0, through the perception and understanding of the functioning of both. A bibliographic review of the MES concept is done, analyzing and filtering all data considered relevant to the objective. Following this step and with the aim of completing the work, a comparison between these bibliographic review data and the data collected during a visit to the Costa Verde company is carried out, in order to analyze, observe and collect data related to the implemented MES. In this way, the comparison made will provide the reader with a view of the reality of the MES system in an Industrial environment and if the data, especially advantages and disadvantages pointed out in the literature, are in agreement with the data collected during the visit.
