Abstract(s)
Esta dissertação de mestrado de Gerontologia, integra-se na elaboração de um projeto
denominado de “Covilhã-cidade amiga da pessoa idosa”, que tem por objeto tornar a cidade
da Covilhã membro da Plataforma Portuguesa das Cidades Amigas dos Idosos. Tem-se como
cumprimento as linhas de orientação que constam no projeto mundial “Cidades Amigas da
Pessoa Idosa” da OMS. Das áreas estratégicas referenciadas pelo Guia das Cidades Amigas do
Idoso, desenvolveram-se as seguintes temáticas: participação social, respeito e inclusão social.
A metodologia adotada é de base qualitativa, recorrendo-se a entrevistas semidiretivas a
informadores qualificados. Permitindo-se analisar uma amostragem da população da cidade da
Covilhã com idade igual ou superior a 65 anos. Para cada entrevista, origina-se uma ou mais
dimensões e analisam-se as problemáticas. Com a análise de resultados, surte a necessidade
de soluções que visem a promoção da participação social do idoso da Covilhã, elaborando-se
planos de ação que a promovam e a incentivem, seja através de atividades culturais,
recreativas, desportivas, lúdicas e religiosas. Essas iniciativas deverão ser responsabilidade das
entidades públicas, podendo laborar em parceria com as entidades privadas e de voluntariado.
A promoção da participação social, facilita a inclusão do idoso na comunidade, incute-se o
respeito entre gerações, promove-se o envelhecimento ativo e a qualidade de vida no idoso.
This Gerontology Master's thesis, is part of the preparation of a project called the "Covilhãfriendly city elder," whose objective is to make the city of Covilhã member of the Portuguese Platform of the Cities Friends of the Elderly. One has to comply with the guidelines set out in the global project "Friendly Cities of the Elderly" of the WHO. The strategic areas referenced by the Guide of the Cities Age-friendly, have developed the following themes: social participation, respect and social inclusion. The methodology is qualitative basis, making use of semi-directive interviews to qualified informants. Allowing to analyse a sample of Covilhã city's population aged over 65 years. For each interview, originates from one or more dimensions and analysed problematic. With the analysis results, the need arises for solutions aimed at promoting social participation of Covilhã elderly, developing up action plans to promote and encourage, either through cultural, recreational, sporting, recreational and religious activities. These initiatives should be the responsibility of public authorities, may labouring in partnership with the private and voluntary bodies. Promoting social participation, facilitates the inclusion of the elderly in the community, instils the respect between generations, promotes active aging and quality of life in the elderly.
