Abstract(s)
aquisição, a criação, o armazenamento, a partilha e a utilização do conhecimento.
Guiné-Bissau.
The mere existence of knowledge in the organization, such as health, does not add anything to it, if its management practices are not continuously applied so that it is accessible and used as one of its most important resources (Cruz & Ferreira, 2016). This study's main objective is to verify how knowledge management is applied in practice in the public health organization in Guinea-Bissau. The study was conducted with a group of managers from regional and central administrative and public health care institutions. This was an exploratory study of a qualitative nature that used the semi-structured interview technique to obtain data and an interview guide as an instrument for collecting information. According to the results, the application of knowledge management in practice in four health institutions studied takes place in institutional routines through the Ministry of Health and partners, managers, and collaborators, but managed unconsciously by managers. There are knowledge management practices from the 5-practice model applied to study in the studied institutions that encompass the acquisition, creation, storage, sharing and use of knowledge. Managers in management positions at the institutions studied have little contact (lack of contact knowledge) with the knowledge management practices of the practice model mentioned above. The competence of managers to apply PGC in terms of knowledge and experience in management and health are few, despite their good attitudes. In addition to the lack of specialized health care professionals, the lack of professional managers specialized in health is also evident in the management of health institutions. The study contributed to connecting the managers of the study institutions to the topic of Knowledge Management, with knowledge of the advantages of applying knowledge management practices to Health Units in Guinea-Bissau and with the first study on the topic in the public organization of health in Guinea-Bissau.
