Abstract(s)
integravam o plantel do sub-15 do SCC.
The internship report is a transcription of what was accomplished during the internship at Sporting Clube da Covilhã in the 2023/2024 sports season. The intervention took place in the youth category as an assistant coach in the National Championship second division. The internship report is composed of a first part that focuses on all the work developed throughout the season with the team and the host organization where the internship was carried out. The second part of the report is about the scientific research conducted, in the form of a case study, with the aim of investigating the combined effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and the FIFA 11+ protocol on the physical abilities of young soccer players. The sample consisted of 22 male players aged between 13 and 15 years old (Mean SD = 14.09 ± 0.68) who were part of the SCC under-15 squad. The tests conducted included the 20-meter sprint test, the yo-yo test level 2, the countermovement jump test, and the body fat percentage assessment, both pre- and post-intervention. Additionally, interval training was performed once a week, and the FIFA 11+ warm-up protocol was applied three times a week. The study concluded that the intervention resulted in significant improvements in the 20-meter sprint test, the yo-yo test level 2, and the countermovement jump test, but no significant improvement was observed in the body fat percentage. Regular interval training sessions appear to be an effective strategy for improving speed and aerobic capacity in young soccer players. It is important to note that training programs should be adapted to maximize each player's potential, considering their unique characteristics, as well as the implementation of continuous monitoring through periodic testing.
