Abstract(s)
The Operational Block was a complex unit with great dynamism. It is the most expensive hospital service and efficient management is essential when hospitals and other health services aim to maximize their results with limited resources. The delimitation of the object of study was expressed in the following question: How do nurses perceive the management of the Operative Block? The intention was: to know the management model of an Operative Block and to verify the way nurses perceive its management. The empirical work followed a qualitative research methodology, using content analysis of the data obtained through a semi-structured interview, applied to 25 nurses working in an Operational Block. According to the interviewed nurses, there is no model of Operative Block Management, a locus of study, and, in view of this, it is necessary to establish a management model, so that the main problems that occur in the Operative Block can be identified; implement good information management as a factor of performance evaluation and even a factor of real knowledge of what the organization is and how it works; to create Operational Block operational management instruments.
