Abstract(s)
A crescente competição global obriga as organizações a produzirem num ambiente caracterizado por mudanças abruptas e inesperadas, para isso contribuem fatores como: a globalização da economia, a saturação dos mercados, as mudanças tecnológicas, políticas e sociais. Desta forma para as empresas se manterem competitivas optam por implementar ações estratégicas na procura da melhoria contínua dos seus processos, alcançando assim, um aumento da rentabilidade.
Nesta dissertação são apresentados os principais conceitos e filosofias da melhoria continua, o modo como foram implementados numa organização da industrial automóvel e quais foram os aspetos positivos associados a essas técnicas de melhoria. Ao longo do desenvolvimento deste trabalho foram analisadas as melhorias implementadas no sistema produtivo da organização, que permitem concluir que foi bastante positiva a decisão por parte da empresa de implementação de uma cultura de melhoria contínua.

This way for companies to remain competitive, they decide to implement strategic actions in the pursuit of continuous improvement of its processes, thus achieving increased profitability. In this thesis are presented the key concepts and philosophies of continuous improvement, how they were implemented in an organization belonging to the automotive industry and what were the positive aspects associated with these improvement techniques. Throughout the development of this thesis were analysed the improvements implemented in the production system of the organization, concluding that it was a very positive decision by the company to implement a culture of continuous improvement.
