Abstract(s)
tanto a nível físico onde melhoram a resistência muscular e cardiovascular, a força, a
Posto isto, o objetivo geral deste
estágio curricular realizado no clube Holmes Place - Coimbra consistiu no
Regular physical exercise improves a number of factors for practitioners, both on a physical level, where they improve muscular and cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, among others, and on a psychological level, where it is associated with a reduction in psychological illnesses. In order for this physical activity to be carried out properly, exercise professionals in health clubs/gymnasiums must fulfil certain competencies towards their members, such as the technical domain where they demonstrate their ability to prescribe training, the pedagogical domain where they demonstrate their ability to guide training or group classes and the communication domain which allows them to have a professional and ethical relationship with their clients. That said, the overall aim of this internship, which took place at the Holmes Place - Coimbra club, was to learn new skills related with exercise professionals, while being integrated into a real-life context. A variety of activities were carried out at the club, including all the club's departments, from gym/health club management, cleaning and maintenance, reception, physiotherapy to the work carried out by exercise professionals, such as supervised training and group classes. During the internship, a research project was carried out with the main aim of assessing the perception of fatigue and its relationship with the work carried out by fitness instructors. The results showed a positive and strong correlation between perceived fatigue and total working time in the fitness professionals assessed, which suggests that the greater the workload, the greater the perception of fatigue.
