Os fisioterapeutas portugueses ocupam o terceiro lugar (com um número de 104.472 migrantes) em termos de profissionais que mais têm migrado dentro da União Europeia desde que existem dados. Contudo, existe pouca investigação sobre os motivos que levam a esta migração. Da mesma forma, existem poucos estudos que foquem a satisfação profissional dos fisioterapeutas.
Assim, o objetivo geral deste estudo é avaliar a satisfação profissional dos fisioterapeutas, tendo em consideração se trabalham no setor público ou privado, o número de anos de serviço e a posição na carreira como fisioterapeuta e as características demográficas, e perceber se esta está ou não relacionada com os números crescentes de emigração destes profissionais.
Para tal desenvolveu-se um estudo quantitativo transversal, sendo que a amostra ficou representada por 270 fisioterapeutas em exercício de funções em Portugal. De acordo com os objetivos previamente definidos, elaborou-se um inquérito por questionário posteriormente colocado em suporte digital, algumas perguntas do inquérito foram adaptadas de escalas já validadas noutros estudos, enquanto outras foram de elaboração própria.
Em termos de resultados obteve-se que 70% (n=189) dos fisioterapeutas em estudo encontram-se satisfeitos ou muito satisfeitos com a profissão exercida, que a percentagem de variância explicada pela satisfação profissional na vontade de emigrar é de 18,4%, que os fatores que mais contribuem para explicar a satisfação profissional são: o trabalho em si, a supervisão, e a remuneração, e que 65,19% (n=176) dos fisioterapeutas portugueses pondera ou já ponderou a opção de emigrar.
Este estudo contribuiu para o aumento do conhecimento sobre a satisfação profissional dos fisioterapeutas uma vez que em Portugal, veio abrir novas portas no que toca à investigação na área da emigração dos fisioterapeutas portugueses e aos fatores desencadeadores de tal decisão. Depois desta investigação fica claro que algo se passa para que 65,19% dos fisioterapeutas portugueses em exercício de funções em Portugal pondere ou já alguma vez tenha ponderado emigrar.
Contudo é importante mencionar que esta investigação teve como limitação o ter sido conduzida apenas no contexto português, e o reduzido número de fisioterapeutas a trabalhar no setor público que fez parte deste estudo. Deve ainda salientar-se que seria importante a realização de outras investigações a fim de confirmar as hipóteses rejeitadas, bem como apoiar as conclusões retiradas.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the job satisfaction of physical therapists, taking into account whether they work in the public or private sector, the number of years of service, the position in their career as a physiotherapist, the demographic characteristics, and see if this is or not related to the increasing numbers of emigration of these professionals. It was developed a cross-sectional quantitative study, and the sample was represented by 270 Portuguese physiotherapists. According to the previously defined objectives, we elaborated a questionnaire subsequently put into digital form, some survey questions were adapted from scales already validated in other studies, while others were of own elaboration. In terms of results we can observe that 70% (n = 189) physiotherapists are satisfied or very satisfied with the profession exercised, the percentage of variance explained by job satisfaction in the desire to emigrate is 18.4%, the factors that contribute most to explain job satisfaction are the work itself, supervision, and salary, and 65.19% (n = 176) of the Portuguese physiotherapists considering or have considered the option of emigrating. This study contributed to increase knowledge about the job satisfaction of physical therapists as in Portugal, and has opened doors when it comes to research about the emigration of Portuguese physiotherapists and the factors that trigger such decision. After this research it is clear that something is happening to 65.19% of Portuguese physiotherapists as they consider to emigrate. However, it is important to mention that this investigation was limited to have been conducted only in the Portuguese context, and the small number of physiotherapists working in the public sector that was part of this study. It should also be noted that it would be important to conduct further investigations to confirm the hypothesis rejected and support the conclusions drawn.
