Abstract(s)
A minha experiĂȘncia profissionalizante obtida no Ăąmbito do Mestrado Integrado em CiĂȘncias FarmacĂȘuticas englobou trĂȘs vertentes: Investigação, FarmĂĄcia ComunitĂĄria e FarmĂĄcia Hospitalar. Desta forma a presente dissertação estĂĄ dividida em trĂȘs partes.
A primeira parte deste trabalho refere-se ao projeto de investigação que teve lugar na Freguesia do Soito, com o objetivo de estudar a prevalĂȘncia do dĂ©fice cognitivo e dos graus de demĂȘncia na comunidade rural da Freguesia do Soito, concelho do Sabugal, distrito da Guarda. VĂĄrios organismos e entidades tĂȘm alertado para o envelhecimento da população e consequentemente para o aumento do nĂșmero de casos de indivĂduos com DĂ©fice Cognitivo Ligeiro (DCL) e com DemĂȘncias, por se tratarem de doenças relacionados com o avanço da idade.
Foram incluĂdos neste estudo os residentes da Freguesia do Soito com mais de 50 anos que aceitaram participar de forma voluntĂĄria, respondendo a um questionĂĄrio. Para o presente trabalho foram utilizados os dados resultantes dos seguintes instrumentos: Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) de Folstein, o Ăndice de Katz, a Escala de Lawton & Brody e a Escala de DepressĂŁo GeriĂĄtrica de Yesavage (versĂŁo curta).
Os dados recolhidos foram posteriormente analisados e concluiu-se que a população da Freguesia do Soito, apesar de envelhecida, apresenta, de um modo geral, um bom funcionamento cognitivo.
A segunda parte diz respeito ao meu estĂĄgio em FarmĂĄcia ComunitĂĄria, realizado na farmĂĄcia Holon-CovilhĂŁ, onde relato o primeiro grande contacto com a profissĂŁo, mas sobretudo com o utente. Este estĂĄgio permitiu integrar uma equipa de trabalho direcionada para o utente e para o seu acompanhamento farmacoterapĂȘutico. SĂŁo descritas nĂŁo sĂł as atividades decorridas bem como as competĂȘncias adquiridas durante o perĂodo de estĂĄgio.
Por fim, a terceira parte descreve o meu contacto com a FarmĂĄcia Hospitalar e todas as atividades desenvolvidas durante o estĂĄgio. De certa forma, relata tambĂ©m a minha surpresa bastante positiva com a vertente mencionada, e que me fez perceber a importĂąncia do farmacĂȘutico hospitalar nos cuidados de saĂșde e do medicamento.
My professional experience acquired within the Mastersâ Program of Pharmaceutical Sciences included three different areas: Research, Community Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy. In this way the present dissertation is divided in three parts. The first part of this work refers to the research project that took place in Soito, with the objective of studying the prevalence of cognitive deficit and dementia in the rural community of Soito - Sabugal, district of Guarda. A number of agencies and entities are warning of aging populations and consequently increasing the number of cases of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia due to the fact that they are age-related diseases. This study included residents of the Soito over 50 years old who agreed to participate voluntarily, responding to a questionnaire, where they were used as instruments, the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) of Folstein, the Katz Index, the Lawton & Brody Scale, and the Yesavage Geriatric Depression Scale (short version). The data collected were later analyzed and it was concluded that the population of Soito, although aged, has, in general, a good cognitive functioning. The second part concerns my internship in Community Pharmacy, held at the Holon-CovilhĂŁ pharmacy, where I report the first major contact with pharmacistâactivity, but especially with the patient. This stage allowed the integration of a work team directed to the patient and for their therapeutic follow-up. Not only are the activities carried out as well as the skills acquired during the internship period described. Finally, the third part describes my contact with the Hospital Pharmacy and all the activities developed during the internship. In a way, it also reports my very positive surprise with this pharmaceutical activity, which made me realize the importance of the hospital pharmacist in health care and medicine.
