Abstract(s)
This report is divided into three chapters. The first chapter describes the research component. The second and third chapter corresponds to the professional experience achieved in training, particularly in community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy, respectively. The first chapter of the report is intended to describe the project developed in research component. The main goal was to characterize the production of compounded drugs in portuguese hospitals. Thus, they were contacted by phone, after that was sent electronically, the information about the study and access to the online questionnaire. The number of possible responses was 101. 86 hospitals agreed to participate in the study and of these, we obtained 44 complete responses (43,5%). The pharmaceutical forms most produced were solutions and suspensions for oral use, solutions for diagnostic or laboratory use and semisolid preparations for local application. Medical specialties that prescribe more compounded medications were pediatric medical (81%), obstetrics and gynecology (61.9%), dermatology (61.9%) and oncology (57.1%). The therapeutic indications most prevalent were medicines used in skin disorders (66.7%) and diagnostic solutions or laboratory use (47.6%). About future perspectives of the compounding, 45.5% believe it will increase. The study largely contributed to the characterization of compounding in hospitals portuguese, since, to date, there is no other study with so much information. The second chapter of the report, aims to describe the activities and experience gained during the internship in Farmácia Moderna, in Paúl, showing the operation of community pharmacy and and pharmacist's role in this area The last chapter of the report, aims to describe the structural organization of the pharmaceutical services, the technical and scientific skills acquired, activities and methodologies that were observed during the internship in hospital pharmacy in ULSCB.
