O Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Farmacêuticas permite a integração em diferentes áreas,
preparando o futuro farmacêutico para o mercado de trabalho, através da unidade curricular
Estágio. O aluno tem então a oportunidade de experienciar uma componente de investigação
e uma componente profissional.
A componente de investigação é composta pelo estudo das abordagens farmacológicas
utilizadas nas demências diagnosticadas no Centro Hospitalar da Cova da Beira. Através da
recolha de informação dos processos dos doentes diagnosticados com demências, procurou-se
caracterizar a amostra com parâmetros demográficos, clínicos e farmacológicos. A maioria da
amostra era do género feminino, e encontrava-se na faixa etária compreendida entre os 70 e
89 anos. A doença de Alzheimer foi a demência mais diagnosticada. Os antidemenciais,
antipsicóticos, antidepressivos e ansiolíticos foram bastante utilizados no tratamento das
demências, nem sempre refletindo o indicado na literatura. As comorbilidades mais
encontradas foram as afeções cardiovasculares, como era esperado.
A componente profissional englobou o estágio curricular em farmácia comunitária e em
farmácia hospitalar. De 3 de fevereiro a 25 de abril, estagiei na farmácia Parente, e de 28 de
abril a 20 de junho estagiei no Centro Hospitalar da Cova da Beira. Ambos os estágios
possibilitaram a aquisição e aplicação de conhecimentos nestas duas possíveis saídas
profissionais.
The Integrated Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences allows the integration in different areas, preparing the future pharmacist for the labour market, through the subject Internship. So, the student has the opportunity to experience a research component and a professional component. The research component comprises the study of the pharmacological approaches used in dementia diagnosed in the Cova da Beira Hospital Centre. By collecting information from the records of patients with the diagnosis of dementia, it sought to characterize the sample with demographic, clinical and pharmacological parameters. The majority of the sample was of female gender, and was distributed within an age range between 70 and 89 years. The Alzheimer’s disease was the most diagnosed dementia. The antidementials, antipsychotics, antidepressants and anxiolytics were often used in the treatment of dementia, not always reflecting what was indicated in the literature. The most common comorbidities were cardiovascular disorders, as expected. The professional component included the curricular internship in community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy. From February 3rd to April 25th, I interned in pharmacy Parente, and from April 28 to June 20 I intern in Cova da Beira Hospital Centre. Both internships enabled the acquisition and application of knowledge in these two possible career opportunities.
