Abstract(s)
Several studies have established a relationship between sexual dysfunction and obesity, showing that obesity is correlated with dissatisfaction, reduced desire and problems with sexual functioning. Therefore, it was tried to study the impact of obesity on the prevalence of sexual dysfunction as well as the relationship between weight and satisfaction with body image. For this purpose it was collected a sample of 976 individuals (311 men and 665 women) with sexual activity initiated and an age between 15 and 40. Most of these (61.2%) were in the percentile of normal weight, 22.5% were overweight and 11.4% were obese. The instruments used were the Questionnaire of Satisfaction with Body Image (Raposo, 2004), a Sexual Functioning Questionnaire (male and female version) and a Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire (male and female version). The results indicated differences with the satisfaction of body image between men and women, as well as a statistically significant influence of obesity on the satisfaction with body image. The analysis of sexual function showed no dependence on the variables Findings of the Act and Sexual Satisfaction with the operation. Finally, it was found that women with low weight and / or normal weight showed mean values of quality of sexual life on an emotional high, compared with women who had type 1 and Severe Obesity. With regard to the quality of sex life of men there were no statistically significant differences attributable to obesity.
