Abstract(s)
futuras.
With the emergence of new technologies and the succession of events that affect economic systems as a whole, it is essential to analyze the impact that negative events have on companies and especially on their human resources. The present study aims to identify and characterize Human Resources practices and agile practices implemented by small and medium-sized companies, and how crises affect them, this is because during the literature review, it highlighted the fact that there are few publications that study the influence of agile practices on human resources management in small and medium-sized companies, during and after periods of crisis. The approach used was a case study, which is a qualitative approach, and the main data collection technique used was the semi-structured interview. One hundred and seventeen companies were contacted, but only eight responded, and of these, five showed interest and availability in carrying out the interview. To determine the minimum sample to be used, the theoretical saturation method was applied, which ended up being achieved by repeating the content of the answers given to the questions. In addition to the information collected through interviews, data was also collected through the organizations' websites. The analysis of case studies revealed that small and medium-sized companies in Portugal use human resources management practices that promote the integration of employees in the organization, through their participation in the implementation of new processes and protocols, and that guarantee a balance between the personal and professional lives of employees. These practices allow employees to feel more welcomed and more receptive to changes that may occur, in more critical situations, such as the 2010/2011 financial crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic and other potential future crises.
