Abstract(s)
This dissertation is a study on technological evolution, additive manufacturing, better known as 3D printing, with a centered approach to the fashion industry. The use of 3D printing technology is a relatively recent manufacturing process when compared to traditional methods, however, it has been growing in recent years, around 20% in the area of fashion, jewelry, and art, also, it is revolutionizing all manufacturing areas. Therefore, the fashion industry can give another bias to the fashion industry, changing the canons currently related. All traditional aspects of clothing production can be drastically changed with this technology, in addition to that, this innovation has the potential to make the fashion industry a more sustainable industry. However, some problems make this technology dysfunctional. Problems related to the rigidity of materials, usability, comfort, and ergonomic issues are some parameters that sometimes 3D printing still cannot solve. This dissertation, structured by bibliographic research, interviews, and practical study, presents a historical line on active manufacturing technology, as well as its applicability and experimentation over the years. The document highlights the benefits and effective uses for the fashion world today and perspectives in the haute couture scenario. Also, a practical test was carried out in which the potential of clothing production is analyzed, as well as the positive, negative aspects and existing controversies related to the production process of this technology for fashion.
