Guts: Parasite é um jogo top-down
, com uma estética inspirada na obra de H.R.Giger e em
segunda pessoa. É jogado segundo a perspetiva de um inimigo único que persegue o ruído feito pela
personagem jogável. O inimigo é uma criatura humanoide resultado de uma tentativa de clonagem
malsucedida cujos órgãos internos se voltaram para o exterior e vice-versa. É uma criatura cega,
mas com excelente audição.
Revelado apenas por uma aura luminosa num ambiente escuro, o inimigo persegue o
jogador conforme o ruído que este faz. As ações do jogador revelam momentaneamente a sua
posição e os seus arredores de acordo com a intensidade do ruído resultante. O jogador deve
encontrar uma estratégia e um ritmo (alternar entre ruído e silencio) que lhe permita escapar e
completar o nível.
Em termos técnicos, o projeto foi desenvolvido no Unreal Engine

, esta ferramenta
permitiu-me construir o jogo sem ter de escrever código, mas sim através de programação visual. O
meu foco neste trabalho envolveu principalmente a parte estética, artística e conceptual e para esta
parte utilizei software como Blender3 para a criação de modelos 3D, e Adobe Photoshop4 para a
edição de imagens/texturas. Em relação às animações utilizei as disponíveis pelo Mixamo5
,
animando apenas aquilo que não for encontrado no site.
Guts: Parasite is a top-down game, with an aesthetic inspired by the work of H.R.Giger and in second person. It is played from the perspective of a single enemy chasing the noise made by the playable character. The enemy is a humanoid creature resulting from an unsuccessful cloning attempt whose internal organs have turned outward and vice-versa. It is a blind creature, but with excellent hearing. Revealed only by a luminous aura in a dark environment, the enemy pursues the player according to the noise he makes. The player's actions momentarily reveal their position and surroundings according to the intensity of the resulting noise. The player must find a strategy and a rhythm (switching between noise and silence) that allows him to escape and complete the level. In technical terms, the project was developed in Unreal Engine, this tool allowed me to build the game without having to write code but through visual programming. My focus in this work involved mainly the aesthetic, artistic and conceptual part and for this part I used software like Blender for creating 3D models, and Adobe Photoshop for editing images/textures.
