Abstract(s)
A maioria destes profissionais mencionou
The use of memory prosthetics is one of the most effective tools for cognitive rehabilitation, having a positive impact on memory functioning of individuals with cognitive deficits. We should, also, highlight their potential as tools for distance cognitive rehabilitation interventions. This study has as the main objective to evaluate the knowledge levels and usability of memory prosthetics by health professionals and their application in distance cognitive rehabilitation interventions. This is a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study, where they took part 120 health professionals who work with individuals with cognitive deficits. The participants were aged between 22 and 65 years (M = 36.99; SD = 10.85) with most participants being Psychologists (n = 56) and Occupational Therapists (n = 22). It was built a questionnaire to assess knowledge and expectations regarding the use of memory prosthetics by health professionals. The results indicate that the level of global knowledge of specific memory prosthetics is higher than the degree of their use. The same is true for the degree of acceptance of each of the specific memory prosthetics by its users, according to health professionals, which is greater than the chances of professionals using these memory prosthetics with them. Most of these professionals mentioned that the use of memory prosthetics facilitates distance interventions and they consider it necessary to have access to memory prosthetics to use it in this context. This study suggests that the degree of use of memory prosthetics by the professionals surveyed is low. In future studies, it is relevant to evaluate the reason why health professionals do not use memory prosthetics, as well as the to measure the users' perspective on these devices, in order to be able to optimize their widely utilization.
