| dc.description.abstract | Nos últimos anos, como resultado do grande avanço tecnológico verificado um pouco por todo o mundo, surgiu também uma nova forma de bullying: o cyberbullying, fenómeno que se constitui como um tipo de agressão praticada através das tecnologias de informação e comunicação. O presente estudo, levado a cabo com o objectivo de caracterizar a natureza e incidência das experiências de cyberbullying de jovens portugueses, foi realizado com base numa amostra de 305 estudantes do terceiro ciclo do ensino básico, com idades compreendidas entre os 12 e os 18 anos, dos quais 50,5% são do sexo masculino e 49,5% do sexo feminino. Verificou-se uma prevalência significativa de casos de cyberbullying, tendo 32,4% dos participantes afirmado já ter tido conhecimento destes casos no meio que os rodeia. Uma percentagem considerável, 21,6%, relatou já ter sido vítima deste tipo de comportamento agressivo e 9,2% já agiu como agressor. Constatou-se existir uma relação entre agressão e vitimização e observou-se que o bullying tradicional está relacionado com o cyberbullying, tanto no que concerne à sua prática como à vitimização dele resultante. Não se verificaram diferenças significativas relativamente ao sexo ou à idade dos participantes. Foi possível verificar ainda que a maioria das vítimas de cyberbullying lidaram com este tipo de agressão de uma forma passiva, e que existe uma relação entre vitimização e agressão e presença de perturbação emocional. | dc.description.abstract | In the past few years, as a result of the worldwide technological leap forward, a new kind of bullying has surfaced: cyberbullying, a brand of aggression perpetrated through information and communications technology. This study aims to characterize the nature and incidence of the cyberbullying experiences of Portuguese adolescents, using a sample comprised of 305 middle school students aged between 12 and 18 years old, 50,5% of which were male and 49,5% female. A significative prevalence of cyberbullying cases was verified on this study; 32,4% of the students said they had known about such cases on their surrounding environment. 21,6% of the subjects said they have been victims of cyberbullying and 9,2% has acted as a cyberbully. A correlation between aggression and victimization was verified, as well as between traditional and electronic bullying, both concerning aggression and its resulting victimization. Significant correlations between the gender or age of the subjects has not been disclosed. It was made clear that most victims cope with this type of aggression passively and that there is a significant correlation between aggression, victimization and presence of an emotional disorder. The present study also suggests that cyberbullying in Portugal is already a striking phenomenon, following a trend verified in many countries. | |
