Abstract(s)
The present essay consists of a project to development and rehabilitate the Quinta da Caneira, a 17th century manor house and farmland classified as of Municipal Interest since 2002, a title that gave it greater distinction and value. The farmland is located in a rural area in the town of Murtosa, in the Aveiro district, boarding the Ria de Aveiro Rural areas, like the study case, have been losing inhabitants and seeing its population aging more and more in an accelerating pace. These regions do not guarantee opportunities and attractive incomes for the active population, who end up moving to urban areas. Tourism appears as a sector with great potential to stimulate the development of these areas and to support the current touristic needs. Investments must be made, rehabilitation of buildings, public spaces, conservation of patrimony, that can ensure long term employment creation, better quality of life for the population, their economy, culture and social life. The intention is to intervene in this propriety by creating a group of spaces that will respond to the needs, from a tourism perspective, through the creation of a rural hotel with a venue for holding events.
